Well, here we are. After an absolutely mad first two rounds we are already to our Sweet 16. The Round of 32 went by with a few massive upsets that I 100% did not see coming. We are all of the sudden down a couple of 1 seeds and a 2 seed. You guys had me completely and utterly gobsmacked with a couple of these picks, especially in the Donald and Goofy Region. Every year I have an idea of what I think the final two in each region will be (not always the 1 & 2 seed) but about half of my Elite 8 guesses are already gone. Y’all are ruthless!
The Regional Semifinals begins now and voting will end Sunday, March 27 at 5pm Central. Good luck with making up your mind on some of these.
But first — Let’s get on to the results! Remember all “scores” are percentages from voting.
MICKEY REGION
(1) “When You Wish Upon a Star” (Pinocchio) vs (8) “One Jump Ahead” (Aladdin)
I felt like there was a trend this round of the big 90’s era songs taking out all comers, new and old. This was one of the exceptions to that as our 1 seed took out a very fun 8 seed in “One Jump Ahead” by a final of 70-30.
(4) “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” (The Lion King) vs (5) “Under the Sea” (The Little Mermaid)
This game was one of the harder for me to pick. “Under the Sea” makes you feel so giddy. “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” is a for real classic. Y’all ended up having the same difficulty picking as I did apparently as the 4 seed “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” moves on via a 57-43 victory.
(11) “You’re Welcome” (Moana) vs (14) “Go the Distance” (Hercules)
A matchup of Cinderella seed in the Mickey Region saw 11 seed “You’re Welcome” move on to the Sweet 16 after a 61-39 win over the 14 seed “Go the Distance”.
(2) “Be Our Guest” (Beauty and the Beast) vs (10) “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” (Frozen)
The final game of the Mickey region was never in doubt as our 2 seed “Be Our Guest” had a wire to wire win over a fairly sad if not upbeat 10 seed “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” with a final of 80-20.
MINNIE REGION
(1) “Beauty and the Beast” (Beauty and the Beast) vs (9) “A Spoonful of Sugar” (Mary Poppins)
Every year I’m a little shocked when a 1 seed goes down early. This is definitely the case here as Minnie Region 1 seed “Beauty and the Beast” goes down in a very exciting matchup to underdog 9 seed “A Spoonful of Sugar” 52-48. Did not see this one coming at all. Like, at all.
(4) “How Far I’ll Go” (Moana) vs (5) “Friend Like Me” (Aladdin)
I have a special place in my heart for 4 seed “How Far I’ll Go” because my 3 year old freaking belts this song at the top of her lungs on the way to daycare. “Friend Like Me” is so, so fun. I had no idea how to vote here either. Y’all, on the other hand, did not seem to have that problem as the 5 seed “Friend Like Me” moves on 72-28.
(3) “Reflection” (Mulan) vs (11) “A Girl Worth Fighting For” (Mulan)
I didn’t mean to put these two songs from the same movie in the same region. Whoopsies. But I did. So we roll with it. For the record, you all picked the wrong song here. 11 seed “A Girl Worth Fighting For” knocks out what I thought was a dark horse anthem to win the Minnie Region in 3 seed “Reflection” by a final of 71-29.
(2) “Circle of Life” (The Lion King) vs (7) “Poor Unfortunate Souls” (The Little Mermaid)
This matchup on the other hand was decided as soon as it was released I think. 2 seed “Circle of Life” moves on easily after taking out Ursula and her 7 seed “Poor Unfortunate Souls” 83-17.
DONALD REGION
(1) “Let It Go” (Frozen) vs (8) “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” (Cinderella)
I don’t like saying the people who read this dumb blog are wrong often. But you’re wrong. In a move that I truly cannot wrap my head around, 1 seed “Let It Go” gets upset by the 8 seed “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” late in the voting by a final of 56-44. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boooooooooo to this vote, is what I have to say.
(4) “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” (Toy Story) vs (5) “Prince Ali” (Aladdin)
Out of all the difficult choices this round, I feel like I took the longest on this one. These are two songs legitimately make up a good part of the soundtrack of Millennial’s childhoods. I don’t even remember how I voted at this point, but it could have gone either way. At the end of the voting period, 4 seed “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” moves on easier than I would have expected, knocking out 5 seed “Prince Ali” 68-32.
(3) “Hakuna Matata” (The Lion King) vs (6) “Whistle While You Work” (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
6 seed “Whistle While You Work” found their way to a 1 point victory in the Round of 64. Then they ran up against a Goliath. 3 seed “Hakuna Matata” absolutely dismantled the Snow White dwarfs theme by a final of 96-4. Yeesh.
(2) “Part of Your World” (The Little Mermaid) vs (10) “The Bare Necessities” (The Jungle Book)
10 seed “The Bare Necessities” also got to our Round of 32 on the back of a 1 vote win over Encanto‘s “Surface Pressure”. It met the same fate as our other 1 vote winner, if not so lopsided, as 2 seed “Part of Your World” moves on to the Regional Semifinal via a 74-26 victory.
GOOFY REGION
(1) “A Whole New World” (Aladdin) vs (8) “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” (The Lion King)
This one was a tough pick but went the way I thought it was as the unbelievably sweet 1 seed “A Whole New World” moves on via a 77-23 win over 8 seed “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King”.
(12) “You’ll Be in My Heart” (Tarzan) vs (13) “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” (Mulan)
In a surprising 12/13 matchup the lullaby 12 seed “You’ll Be in My Heart” went to work and took out 13 seed “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” by a final of 68-32.
(3) “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” (Encanto) vs (11) “Colors of the Wind” (Pocahontas)
I know I said I don’t calling you wrong a lot, but strap in. This matchup, man. 3 seed “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is currently one of the most popular songs on the planet. It also is a certified bop. It was unceremoniously kicked to the curb by 11 seed “Colors of the Wind” 62-38. Unreal.
(2) “Into the Unknown” (Frozen II) vs (7) “Kiss the Girl” (The Little Mermaid)
This one, on the other hand, I feel like you couldn’t pick wrong. 2 seed “Into the Unknown” is another one that comes very cutely screamed at the top of the toddler’s lungs all the time. “Kiss the Girl” is just a real good time. Especially with Scuttle screeching all the time. At the end of voting, we end up with an upset as the 7 seed “Kiss the Girl” boots the 2 seed 79-21.
That leaves us with our bracket looking like this:

Sweet 16
MICKEY REGION
MINNIE REGION
DONALD REGION
GOOFY REGION
Alright everybody. Like I said, there are some absolutely impossible decisions to be made here. Polls are open and will close on Sunday, March 27 at 5pm Central.
