Well y’all, we did it! Here we are. We have our Regional Champions and are ready to move on to the Final 4! The Elite 8 saw two close games (one of which could have gone either way the entire time) and two blowouts. We enter the Final 4 with four teams that I thought were the biggest contenders regardless of how someone seeded one of them. I regret nothing. But enough with my rambling…on to the scores!
The Final 4 voting begins now and voting will end Sunday April 4 at 5pm Central. Championship round begins on Monday. I can’t believe we are already almost through this year!
But first — Let’s get on to the results! Remember all “scores” are percentages from voting.
CLASSIC REGION
(3) National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation vs (4) Home Alone
This region was so stacked that I truly believe any of the top four seeds (It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, or Home Alone) could have a legitimate argument that they should have been the 1 seed. With this in mind, it wasn’t super surprising to see a 3/4 match-up in the Regional Finals here. The Classic Region was won by one of the later movies to qualify for the designation as the 4 seed Home Alone took out the great National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation by a final of 67-33. That makes back to back 67-33 victories by Home Alone to get into the Final 4.
MODERN REGION
(1) Elf vs (2) How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
The Modern Region saw our only tie of the tournament so far and had an 11 seed Cinderella get to the Elite 8 but it all came down to the top two seeds as 1 seed Elf just continued rolling, knocking off 2 seed, 2000’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas by a final of 77-23. That makes back to back 77-23 victories by Elf to get into the Semi-Finals. These trouncings were the closest games they have had so far.
ANIMATED REGION
(1) Charlie Brown Christmas vs (2) How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
In easily the most exciting game of the Elite 8, our 1 seed Charlie Brown Christmas and 2 seed the OG How The Grinch Stole Christmas were locked in a battle from the beginning. I never saw this match-up more than a vote apart every time I checked with either one in the lead. In the end The Grinch comes out on top by 2 votes (!) and a final of 52-48. Ol’ Grinch-face has been living on the edge recently, winning the Sweet 16 match-up by 1 vote and the Elite 8 by 2 votes. This region came within two votes in the Regional Final of going completely scratch from start to finish!
NON-TYPICAL REGION
(1) Die Hard vs (2) Scrooged
Is 1 seed Die Hard a Christmas movie? It’s a question for our time. Well, according to our bracket, not only is that answer yes, but it’s also our favorite non-typical Christmas movie. After blowing through the region they ran up against some really great competition in 2 seed Scrooged. Die Hard was able to withstand the late barrage and secure the Non-Typical Regional Championship by a final of 56-44.
That leaves us with our bracket looking like this:

Final 4
Semi-Final #1
(1) Elf vs (4) Home Alone
Semi-Final #2
(1) Die Hard vs (2) How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
Man. I’m always kind of shocked by how quickly these tournaments fly by. The Semi-Finals are all set. Time to see who gets to the Championship. I honestly have no idea how y’all are going to go on these. Let’s get to voting! See you guys on Monday for our Championship round!!!
