March Madness: Jingles – Elite 8

This bracket, man. Our Sweet 16 saw 3/4 of our 2 seeds meet the end of their run and a couple of our Cinderella runs keep going. This is one of the wildest votes we’ve ever had. Two of the 8 match-ups ended in a tie which had to be broken by Mrs. Clumsy Optimist (y’all are keeping her busy this season!) and two other match-ups came down to 2 votes.

The Regional Finals begin now and voting will end Wednesday, March 29 at 5pm Central. Our Final 4 and regional winners will be announced Thursday and the start of the ultimate battle of advertising jingle supremacy begins. Good luck with making up your mind on some of these.

But first — Let’s get on to the results! Remember all “scores” are percentages from voting.

Sweet 16

Restaurants Region

(2) Chili’s – “I Want My Baby Back” vs (3) Mentos – “The Fresh Maker”

2 seed Chili’s has been the strongest entry in this region and made short work of 3 seed “The Fresh Maker”, moving on to the Regional Final 73-27. So far, this has been their closest match-up.

(4) Meow Mix – “Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow” vs (8) Double Mint Gum – “Double Your Pleasure”

I completely underseeded the 8 spot Double Mint Gum. The people have spoken as they took out Big Red in a close one and the 1 seed McDonalds. This is our first tie of the Sweet 16 that was broken by Mrs. Clumsy Optimist. She wavered back and forth on this almost impossible choice for a bit but ultimately broke toward the 8 seed, who takes out another higher seed in 4 seed Meow Mix.

Companies Region

(1) Toys ‘R’ Us – “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” vs (4) Chia Pet – “Chi-chi-chi-Chia”

1 seed Toys ‘R’ Us has given up one vote in each of the first two rounds. I thought 4 seed “Chi-chi-chi-Chia” would give them more of a tough shot but they were also able to garner only 1 vote as the 1 seed moves on to the Elite 8 via a 95-5 victory.

(2) JG Wentworth – “8-7-7 Cash Now” vs (11) Nair – “Who Wears Short Shorts?”

Our 2 seed JG Wentworth got their first real hard game of their tournament. They were surprised by the massive Cinderella 11 seed Nair as “Who Wears Short Shorts?” gets a 2 vote win and continues their streak by a final of 54-46. Our 11 seed in this region has now taken out the 2, 3, and 6 seeds.

Drinks Region

(1) Folgers – “The Best Part of Waking Up” vs (5) Band-Aid – “I am Stuck On Band-Aid Brand, ‘Cause Band-Aid’s Stuck On Me”

5 seed Band-Aid was such a strong contender but ran into an absolute buzzsaw in the 1 seed Folgers as we see “The Best Part of Waking Up” get to the Regional Final via a 86-14 win.

(2) Huggies Pull-Ups- “I’m a Big Kid Now” vs (6) Bud Light – “Real Men of Genius”

In a much closer game we get to our second tie of the Sweet 16. Somewhat surprising 6 seed “Real Men of Genius” takes out a absolute giant in 2 seed “I’m a Big Kid Now” via the tiebreaker after ending 50-50 in regulation.

Foods Region

(1) Kit Kat – “Give Me a Break” vs (5) Klondike Bar – “What Would You Do?”

Our Foods Region 1 seed Kit Kat bounced back from a tiebreaker win in the Round of 32 to knock off a powerful 5 seed in Klondike Bar’s “What Would You Do?” by a final of 77-23.

(2) Oscar Meyer – “I’d Love To Be An Oscar Meyer Weiner” vs (3) Pepto – “Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion…”

This was the most difficult choice for me to make in the Sweet 16. I went back and forth so many times before I finally made a decision. It was obviously just the same for y’all as this match-up came down to two votes as the 2 seed “I’d Love To Be an Oscar Meyer Weiner” falls to the unbelievably catchy 3 seed Pepto by a final score of 54-46.

That leaves us with our bracket looking like this:

Elite 8

Restaurants Region

Companies Region

(1) Toys ‘R’ Us – “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” vs (11) Nair – “Who Wears Short Shorts?”
