Man, that was a lot of fun! There were some major upsets and one match-up was a complete and total demolition. Thanks to everyone who voted! There were some really tough decisions in the first round and it definitely does not get any easier from here on out. Let’s get on to the results! Remember all “scores” are percentages from voting.

1 Rudy vs 16 The Waterboy
Rudy took care of business against the 16 seed The Waterboy 67-33. Mama say that Rudy is the devil!
8 Invincible vs 9 Draft Day
The 9 seed Deaft Day took out Invincible 71-29. Marky Mark goes down!
5 Friday Night Lights vs 12 Any Given Sunday
Friday Night Lights won over Any Given Sunday 56-44. High School football wins in Texas I suppose.
4 North Dallas Forty vs 13 Leatherheads
North Dallas Forty moves on after a win against the 13 seed Leatherheads 67-33.
6 Remember the Titans vs 11 We Are Marshall
In the match-up of true stories from the past, Remember the Titans took down We Are Marshall 68-32.
3 The Longest Yard (1974) vs 14 Necessary Roughness
In our first real upset of this bracket, the 14 seed Necessary Roughness knocked off the 3 seed The Longest Yard from 1974 53-47. Burt, noooo!
7 The Blindside vs 10 The Program
The Blindside beat down The Program 73-27. Blindside may be a dark horse in this whole thing.
2 Brian’s Song vs 15 The Replacements
In the biggest upset of the tournament, the 15 seed The Replacements absolutely destroyed the 2 seed Brian’s Song 83-17. I love The Replacements, but I can honestly say I did not see this coming.
BASKETBALL REGION
1 Hoop Dreams vs 16 The 6th Man
The 1 seed moves on with a 75-25 win over the 6th Man.
8 The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh vs 9 Above the Rim
I had a feeling that this oldie but a goodie was going to have trouble against Above the Rim. I was correct as The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh went down 83-17.
5 Cornbread, Earl, and Me vs 12 Basketball Diaries
Same story here. Not sure a lot of voters knew about Cornbread, Earl, and Me. It fell to the 12 seeded Basketball Diaries 78-22.
4 White Men Can’t Jump vs 13 Space Jam
The upsets kept rolling in this region as the 13 seeded Space Jam knoced off number 4 White Men Can’t Jump 59-41.
6 Love & Basketball vs 11 Blue Chips
In our first of 3 games that came down to 1 vote, the 6 seed Love & Basketball moves on with a win over Blue Chips 55-45.
3 He Got Game vs 14 Teen Wolf
In a big upset, the 14 seeded Teen Wolf found a way to get in over the 3 seed He Got Game 57-43.
7 Coach Carter vs 10 Glory Road
Coach Carter took down Glory road easily 75-25.
2 Hoosiers vs 15 Air Bud
And in our final Basketball Region match-up, the heavy favorite Hoosiers showed why taking down Air Bud 83-17.
BASEBALL REGION
1 Bull Durham vs 16 Angels in the Outfield
Bull Durham had just about all it could take from the 16 seed Angels in the Outfield needing a late push to win 60-40.
8 Fear Strikes Out vs 9 A League of Their Own
In the most dominant win of the first round and only skunking so far, A League of Their Own beat down the 8 seed Fear Strikes Out 100-0.
5 Moneyball vs 12 The Sandlot
Sometimes a 12 seed has what it takes to make a run. The Sandlot fits that mold, knocking off the 5 seed Moneyball easily 87-13.
4 Bang the Drum Slowly vs 13 The Natural
The same story here, where the 13 seed The Natural took out the 4 seed Bang the Drum Slowly 90-10.
6 Bad News Bears (1976) vs 11 Major League
In the third upset in a row, the 11 seed Major League ends Bad News Bears’ run with a 79-21 victory.
3 Field of Dreams vs 14 Rookie of the Year
3 seed Field of Dreams ended the upsets with a 67-33 win over Rookie of the Year.
7 “42” vs 10 The Rookie
The Rookie found a way to beat 42 by a final score of 67-33.
2 The Pride of the Yankees vs 15 Fever Pitch
In what was shaping up to be another 2-15 seed upset, The Pride of the Yankees eeked out a 54-46 win over Fever Pitch.
OTHER SPORTS REGION
1 Rocky vs 16 The Mighty Ducks
The Mighty Ducks was a crowd favorite, but got a tough draw in the tourney, falling to juggernaut 1 seed Rocky 75-25.
8 Prefontaine: Without Limits vs 9 Cinderella Man
Prefontaine ran away with this one 67-33 over Cinderella Man.
5 Caddyshack vs 12 Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
This was the hardest choice of the tourney so far for me. Two of my all time favorite sports comedies meeting in the first round. Caddyshack found the victory via a 62-38 win over poor Ricky Bobby.
4 Slap Shot vs 13 Dodgeball
In an upset that I think a lot of people saw coming, the 13 seed Dodgeball knowcked off the 4 seed Slap Shot 85-15.
6 Invictus vs 11 Cool Runnings
Cool Runnings started the tourney off on a hot note, blowing out 6 seed Invictus 88-12.
3 Million Dollar Baby vs 14 Blades of Glory
This was funny to me. I love Blades of Glory, but in no way saw it beating out the 3 seed Million Dollar Baby. But that’s what happened with a 1 vote victory; 54-46.
7 Shaolin Soccer vs 10 Miracle
10 seed Miracle kicked out 7 seed Shaolin Soccer 89-11.
2 Karate Kid vs 15 Happy Gilmore
Almost another 2 seed losing to a 15 seed and our last 1 vote win as 2 seed Karate Kid got a last minute win over the strong 15 seed Happy Gilmore 53-47.
